about

Album recorded live in studio with guitar, voice, percussion and fiddle. Contains classic folk tunes and exciting new originals.

---

From deep in the heartland, with miles of road both ahead and behind them comes Midland Uprising. Their raw, no-frills approach to classic folk and blues tunes has been noted for its ability to present forgotten, lonesome songs and somehow make everyone they come across relate to them.

"There wasn't much of an outlet for these artists 80, 90 or 100 years ago. It was church music or bar music," Gill explains. "These people were singing about all the stuff you couldn't be singing about in church, like drinking whiskey and robbing trains."

They don't just focus on the early century, though. Whether its a Townes Van Zandt or a Black Keys cover, there's always an unexpected surprise in store for everyone.

While Jeff and Brian always head the effort, Midland Uprising has been known to bring in friends on fiddle, bass, or other eclectic instruments. The band plays only a few organized shows per year; preferring rambles, unannounced appearances at local watering holes and festivals.

Their first recording, "We Ain't No Bullet Train" has been a fan favorite for years. The album features Heather Malyuk on fiddle. They are currently finishing up their next full-length release, with pieces recorded in Akron, Chicago, Nashville and New York City. If you'd like to hear more, please contact. Ramble on.
